Since graduating from the New York University College of Dentistry in 2006, Dr. Nguyen (or “Dr. David” as his patients know him), has practiced in the Durham Region, continually attending courses and seminars in all areas of dentistry with particular interest in crown and bridge, cosmetics, endodontics (root canal treatment), and implants.

“One thing I love about dentistry is that there’s always something more to learn. There’s so much changing, so much advancement in technology, techniques, and knowledge that you can’t be bored!  At the core of it all are our patients, and that’s what makes dentistry most rewarding.

In a growing town like Ajax you can meet every generation of a family in a single day or week.  I consider it a tremendous honour, to be entrusted by a family to meet their oral health needs.  Of course, across that broad family spectrum, there can be a tremendous variety of dental needs and I enjoy bridging the gap between what’s available and possible in dentistry and what meets each individual’s needs.  At Salem Dental our practice philosophy is to treat every patient like we would a family member.

It never ceases to amaze me that Dentistry draws so many parallels to my favorite things in life:  tennis, ice hockey and sports in general, motorcycles, chess, gadgets, fixing things, funny things, beautiful things, and my favorite thing of all, spending time with my wife Janice and daughter Charlotte.  Not quite sure where the parallels lie?  Just ask me the next time we meet!”

Afterwards, I began my journey into dentistry and studied at University of Toronto for four years to earn my Doctor of Dental Surgery with Honours. After graduating, I completed a residency in advanced general dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia.

My favourite part of dentistry is making people smile. Whether it’s repairing broken teeth, replacing missing teeth, or giving a child a balloon animal, seeing my patient’s face light up is the best part of my day. I am a life-long learner, and enjoy studying new aspects of dentistry during my free time. Outside of dentistry, I like going for walks and hikes with my dog Nala, working out at the gym, trying new recipes, and painting. When I get the chance to travel, I love to explore nature and go snorkelling and scuba diving with interesting aquatic life. I enjoy taking photos and videos of nature and ocean life, and turning them into montages or paintings.

I trained as a Dental Assistant at George Brown College in 2006 and have spent many years chair side, at reception and managing.

I graduated from Durham College in 2017 after falling in love with dentistry a few years prior. In my spare time I enjoy watching movies, biking, and visiting new places. My favourite part of dentistry is meeting new people and helping them become more comfortable in the dental office setting. Working alongside Dr. David and Dr. Feldstein has been a very rewarding experience as I learn more and more each day.

I always worked with the public and enjoyed doing so, but wanted to get involved in a health care field.  I graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Durham College in 2015.  Since then I have enjoyed meeting so many patients and helping them learn about and maintain their oral health.  In this field I am continuously learning, as well as finding new ways to educate others.  My goal has always been to make a connection with my patients and find the best ways to help them with their oral health.  At Salem Dental we believe in providing the time needed to accommodate the unique needs of each patient.  We work collaboratively to discuss your goals, while customizing our care for your individual needs.  I am always looking forward to meeting new patients and doing my part in maintaining your healthy smile!

They always made it such a positive experience and I wanted to do the same! Not only do I enjoy providing hygiene services but I love educating patients about oral hygiene and ways that you can improve your oral health at home! I graduated from Durham College with an advanced diploma in Dental Hygiene and am licensed with the Ontario board.

I was born and raised in Ajax and love that I am providing services to my own community. Because this is my home, I love that every member of our team here at Salem Dental cares for this community like family. In my spare time I enjoy walking my dogs and curling up on the couch for a good movie.
